Surfactants
Surfactants are compounds that reduce the surface or interfacial tension between two liquids, a liquid and a gas, or a liquid and a solid. Surfactants act as emulsifiers, wetting agents, detergents, foaming agents, or dispersing agents. The word “surfactant” is a mixture of surface-active substances. Surfactants are chemical species that act as wetting agents that lower the surface tension of liquids and improve spreading.

APPLICATION & USAGE
- Surfactants play an important role as cleaning, wetting, dispersing, emulsifying, foaming and anti-foaming agents in many practical applications and products, including detergents, fabric softeners, motor oils, emulsions, soaps, paints, adhesives, inks, anti-fogs, ski waxes, snowboard wax, deinking of recycled papers, in flotation, washing and enzymatic processes, and laxatives.
- Surfactants are used with quantum dots in order to manipulate their growth, assembly, and electrical properties.
